Family owned and operated business , Metal Trades Inc ( MTI ) celebrated its 60th birthday in 2022 . Its wealth of experience spans heavy steel fabrication , and the construction , maintenance , and repair of vessels , for both commercial and government customers .
J . E . Corbin , known colloquially as Ted , founded the company in 1962 with just a welding truck and the help of his five sons . 60 years later , the company has adapted its offerings and extended its capabilities , but remains within the Corbin family ’ s hands . Now in its third generation , the leadership team continues to enhance MTI ’ s offering to better serve its customers ’ needs , continuing the legacy that Ted Corbin began .
