The company ’ s latest string of investments has resulted in a $ 17-million expansion to its Edinburgh site , which comprises a multipurpose , highly potent APIs ( HIPAPI ) plant and a large-scale manufacturing facility . From Edinburgh , Veranova offers full current Good Manufacturing Practice ( cGMP ) production for APIs and controlled substances .
“ In February 2023 , we expanded our capabilities at the Edinburgh site , specifically our ability to handle HPAPIs and larger scale , high hazard , complex chemistries ,” David explains . “ This expansion has enabled us to grow in the generic opioid
analgesic and anti-addiction markets , as well as supporting the growing demands of our existing customer base .
“ The majority of the investment has gone into critical assets . We have upgraded our existing large-scale facility , which has significantly improved process control and containment capability , as well as expanding our highly potent plant capacity . It means that our new , state-of-the-art facility can handle batch sizes of one-to-five-kilograms for highly potent compounds down to control Band 5 .
“ Edinburgh now has 14 separate process trains across four manufacturing areas ,” he adds . “ It ’ s now capable of producing milled finished API products in batch sizes ranging from a few hundred grams to over 300 kilograms .
