In 1968 , 29-year-old Romano Sghedoni founded Kerakoll in Sassuolo , a small town in the province of Modena , Italy , known as the most important ceramic district in the world . Romano ’ s passion for construction and chemistry , combined with his love of engineering led him to design and produce the first single-component adhesive for ceramics from his humble garage . Two years later , Kerakoll ’ s inaugural production plant opened in Sassuolo , facilitating the largescale production of its offerings as demand increased . Shortly thereafter , the company made a name for itself in the market through its range of specific adhesives for laying ceramic tiles .
