Ambitious vision
Alongside its UK and German subsidiaries, MCV also boasts a South African operation. Based on the constant development of MCV, MCV South Africa( MCV SA) was founded in 2007 by acquiring the famous De Haan’ s bus factory, one of the major players in the bus market. The expert knowledge from MCV combined with the market expertise of De Haan’ s allowed the company to rapidly expand and improve production methods and product development, as well as increase productivity and quality levels.
The introduction of the city vehicle range, a robust and reliable city vehicle, expanded
its share into the urban market. Having the right product for the market has been key to achieving growth and MCV SA has developed a large range of commercial vehicles. The range includes coach buses for the tourism market, front-engine operation vehicles for the cross-border market, and rear-engine operation vehicles on different chassis for inter-city and school transport as well as truck conversions.
MCV SA is a manufacturing company with 95-percent local content, as it manufactures all products locally. The plant layout has been adjusted to produce up to 22 buses a month and has capacity for 220 staff on one shift. MCV SA’ s after sales and product support services are situated in Johannesburg, making it ideally located to support customers operating cross-border and locally. The workshop is geared up to perform minor repairs, and to change windscreens and windows. Spare parts are also readily available for all models.
