Beginning with having its locations in Bünde and Getmold checked, and a CO₂ balance drawn up, Rotpunkt gleaned many insights, but ultimately, made an important decision: CO₂ emissions are to be gradually reduced using the avoid-reducecompensate approach. In concrete terms, this means all emissions that cannot be avoided or reduced are offset by a certified partner( myclimate) within sustainability projects.
At Rotpunkt, the team is constantly researching how its processes and structures can be optimized. For example, how the proportion of fresh wood used in chipboard can be reduced, how material efficiency can be improved, and production waste better managed. Today, the company looks at these issues much more closely than even a few years ago, also striving to support its production and administration team within a healthy working environment.
Rotpunkt’ s efforts have already given rise to further inspiration, including new
technical innovations. For example, it now manufactures in Batch Size 1 at its Getmold site, thus significantly reducing the amount of material waste. There are also numerous initiatives for the entire team as part of company health management. Shipping employees, for example, now have provision of a passive robotic exoskeleton that reduces physical strain when performing heavy, repetitive, or overhead activities. Indeed, Rotpunkt recognizes that sustainability not only refers to technology, but to daily interaction too.
For a long time now, decisions at Rotpunkt have not only been about economics, but are also very much focused on ecological and social considerations. Every day, the team develops a little further towards climate neutrality while knowing there is still a lot to do. ■
