On the 23rd of April 2025, Horse Powertrain debuted for the first time as a consolidated, independent global powertrain organization at this year’ s Auto Shanghai event. At the event it unveiled its Future Hybrid Concept, a revolutionary hybrid powertrain engineered to accelerate the industry’ s transition to Net Zero. It integrates an internal combustion engine( ICE), an electric motor, and a transmission into a single, compact unit. This new powertrain allows automakers to hybridize Battery Electric Vehicle( BEV) platforms to meet evolving customer demands while eliminating the need
for multiple platforms and production lines. The lightweight and modular design of this powertrain facilitates its seamless integration within existing BEV platforms, serving as a range extender to the current battery system. Furthermore, its transmission and driveshafts enable All-Wheel Drive( AWD) capabilities in both electric vehicles and parallel modes. The Future Hybrid Concept can be powered by a range of fuel types, including gasoline, ethanol flex fuels, pure methanol, and modern synthetic fuels. Horse Powertrain envisions the first vehicles equipped with the Future Hybrid Concept hitting the road as early as 2028, marking a significant step forward in powertrain production.
