“ We work proactively with our partners when it comes to research & development. We visit different trade shows and conferences to learn about new technologies and what problems they’ re designed to solve. We’ ll perform proof of concept studies and test the new applications and technologies to ensure that they effectively solve the problems at hand and are tolerant of the variables that are going to exist in a customer’ s manufacturing world,” Scot explains.
“ Additionally, we’ re around technology all the time and tend to adapt it ourselves without even thinking about it. We operate a really hybrid system when it comes to our working process, and inspiration can be drawn from anywhere. Our people see aspects of new systems at shows and by brainstorming with partners, that they realize could be transformative if combined with a few different tools, integrated together. This
inspiration can drive the team to come back with ideas of how we can improve our own systems and can also lead to something new to help support our customers as far as solutions. Sometimes it’ s as simple as sticky notes on a whiteboard, sometimes it’ s entirely new systems developed.”
A key example of this is the close partnership Mission Design has with the global robotic manufacturer, FANUC Robotics. This collaboration gave rise to one of Mission’ s most recent innovations: The Buddy System.
“ We have a great partnership with FANUC Robotics. Using their CRX line of collaborative robots, we’ ve designed and developed The Buddy System. The Buddy System merges easy-to-program software and robotics into a cohesive system that can be used for dispensing, taping, screwdriving, material handling, and quality inspection,” Scot elaborates.“ The Buddy System can be implemented very quickly and can be highly beneficial for our customers,
