Considering its incredible evolution across 63 years, three family generations and a significant global expansion, Origin Pharma Packaging( Origin) has certainly never strayed from its East Yorkshire roots. The UKbased pharmaceutical packaging company, situated in Hull, was founded by current chairman Tim Pocock’ s grandfather( Stanley Holmes) in 1963, who was a pharmacist by trade. Stanley was frustrated by the lack of packaging options available to himself and his colleagues, and decided to move into the pharmacy packaging space. Now, the company has grown beyond this industry, offering solutions to the life science, lifestyle, and controlled substance sectors as well.

Origin has maintained family ownership through generational transitions, focusing on the UK market for the first 60 years, before diversifying more recently. Although it has expanded geographically, the company

Michael McSorley, Managing Director, joins Manufacturing Today to discuss the strategic decisions behind proudly maintaining Yorkshire manufacturing, including doubling clean room facilities and investing in employees.“ 2025 was our largest year at £ 25 million, and this year we’ re projected for £ 30 million,” Michael reveals.“ Over the last two years, we’ ve focused on our ability to execute and commercialize that success.”
To showcase this, Origin has recently had three team members shortlisted for the Women in Packaging Awards 2026, which will take place on 18th June in London.
