Photonics innovation enables manufacturing and infrastructure growth as Coherent scales technology, operations, and global capabilities
Manufacturers are adapting as compute demand grows and production systems need greater precision, throughput, and energy efficiency. Data volumes keep rising, and semiconductor processes, display technologies, and energy systems all call for tighter control and repeatability. In today’ s environment, photonics has shifted from an enabling function to a core part of the infrastructure.“ The rise of AI infrastructure marked an inflection point, moving photonics from a supporting role to a central part of system design,” shares Sanjai Parthasarathi, Chief Marketing Officer at Coherent Corp.
Sanjai brings more than three decades of experience in research, manufacturing, product management, and strategy. He helps the company align market direction with technology development.“ We need to identify major market trends early, so what we build aligns with where demand is heading over time,” he notes.
Coherent’ s approach connects materials, devices, and systems into a unified portfolio. As Sanjai explains:“ We own the key building blocks of photonics, from compound semiconductors and lasers to detectors, silicon photonics, optics, packaging, and systems. That allows us to optimize performance, reliability, and scalability across the value chain while simplifying deployment for customers.” Founded in 1971 as II‐VI, the company expanded through organic investment and strategic acquisition, including Photop, Oclaro assets, Finisar, and Coherent, Inc., strengthening its capabilities across optical networking and industrial laser technologies. Today, the company operates in more than 20 countries and has over 100 locations.
