“ Callaway built its reputation in the 1980s-90s as a leader in golf club design, but it didn’ t introduce its first golf ball until 2000,” begins Norm Smith, Vice President of Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality.“ That debut product, the Rule 35, featured a solid polybutadiene core, an ionomer mantle and a thin urethane cover – an advanced multilayer construction that helped Callaway enter the premium ball market with credibility and technical sophistication. A major milestone came in 2003 when Callaway acquired Top-Flite and its historic manufacturing facility in Chicopee, Massachusetts. Established in 1896, the plant had produced golf balls for more than a century and was among the most experienced ball-making operations in the world. By taking ownership of Chicopee, Callaway gained not only manufacturing capacity, but also deep institutional knowledge and a workforce skilled in the craft of golf ball production.
“ Over the following years, Callaway invested heavily in modernizing the Chicopee plant,” he continues.“ These upgrades
